And as I asked in another thread, what exactly does "pick up" mean? Is IO now owned by CM? Did they just help out for a piece of the cake?
|
Most probably owned by Century Media yes. I wouldn't imagine a record label just giving away money for a promise of it being paid back by a now
bankrupt company. Maybe InsideOut will be like a sub-label in the way that Steamhammer is/was for SPV.

Earlier this year SPV (distributors and co-owners of InsideOut Music) declared insolvency and filed for bankruptcy, causing a lot of damage
for us and other bands. As for ourselves, the planned album release and four tours were effectively postponed and/or cancelled indefinitely.
Therefore we are now happy to announce that we are back on track again, with Century Media picking up InsideOut, together sorting out the sordid mess
that SPV caused. Work on the album has been resumed and we are doing our best to pick up where we left a few months back with new energy.
Since you have been waiting for such a long time we will give you some first hand info on the coming album:
We are giving birth to a double album called “Road Salt” - revolving around choices, temptation, sacrifices, passion and the difficult art of giving
up. A lot of the intimate issues that have become the core of Pain of Salvation in other words.
The whole album will have a very raw and dry sound, initially described by Daniel as “1976 on steroids”. The music daringly combines the lost worlds
of the early Pain of Salvation while at the same time, as always, paving new roads for the band and their fans.
Hey, why not some song titles?
Linoleum, Sisters, Gone, No Way…
Road Salt will come with an extensive booklet and will also be available as a double vinyl! No release date has been confirmed yet, but we are looking
at 2010 in any case.

lol, people from the last page was right about he "Vinyl"
I think that.. I already have a big idea of how the album will sound (Even more with this: "music daringly combines the lost worlds of the early Pain
of Salvation while at the same time, as always, paving new roads for the band and their fans. ").
Well.. we'll have to wait...
..finding out at last that freedom is a state of mind..

Great now everyone will automatically think it's a musically better album because it's on vinyl.
Though I have to admit, I like the sound of the description here. But I'm going to reserve judgement until I hear it. lol Guilt Machine anyone?

I don't get any such feeling at all. Road Salt is more maroon...
Anyway, didn't Leo say that the album title, and some/many song titles, would be wordplays like on Scarsick? What's the wordplay in Road Salt? Road
Salt is road salt... or am I missing something?

For some reason I immediately thought of Road Assault, which is strange since I'd forgotten the part about the play on words.

Let's dig in deeper on the title:
Road Salt - Definition: Salt used against the formation of ice on roads; when excess salt washes off the roads, it can poison roadside vegetation or
raise salt concentrations in streams and reserves of underground water. It also accelerates the deterioration of concrete and metal

I remember an interview where Daniel said that he had a really good alblum title and was pretty sure he was going to use it on this release but didn't
say what it was incase he didn't use it till later... Is... Is 'Road Salt' it?
Hmmm well I guess when you break it down metaphorically, Road Salt is used to melt away ice on the roads but it also rusts out cars quicker, which
could translate metaphorically quite nicely I think. To rid of something to continue your path but at the same time, destroying yourself faster. I
suppose it could be broken down many ways.
What is this I don\'t even

Or maybe he's just trolling us with the title.

The Perfect Element pt.3!
No,really, though Road Salt sounds awful as an album name, it can have quite a few nice metaphorical meanings...

You can dig as deep as you want but Road Salt still sounds dreadful. I hope
it's a working title.

It really doesn't matter what the title is as long as the music is good.

Of course it does. The title, and everything else related to the presentation of the music will undeniably affect the overall experience of the
product. That's the whole point.

I wouldn't go that far and serious... But,i fear it shows lack of creativity which might reflect on the music...
Though there are nice metaphorical explanations,it sounds really awful! I mean Pain of Salvation - Road Salt!
