Daniel's Facebook:
I learned yesterday that the Sri Lankan sponsors are backing out after having heard the Scarsick album, claiming that we are "a bad influence"! Funny how a band fighting for the environment, gender equality, peace and true democracy based on political and financial justice can be deemed unfit for the young. Hey, we don't even do drugs or have those massive cool tattoos for crying out loud, I mean, where do you draw the line? I guess the only artist ever to have played Sri Lanka must have been Kevin Costner...?

Surprise member change...again?  :o
Or the optimistic version : maybe he just couldn't travel to India for personal reasons or something...
In the end...aren't we all dogs playing poker?

Probably he just couldn't travel, because he was playing on Turkey's gig. The thing is, who the hell is this other guy?

Maybe Fredrik just got really toned and... hairy for the tour? You know, trying to look his best.

I seriously hope they dont play many covers and play lots of stuff from their Older albums.
Especially since this is their 1st trip to India and they should promote more of their own music.
The setlist from Greece looks fine, except for the covers ;)

A great review from two India gigs (regular and acoustic):

We can also read something about Fredrik absence and his temporary substitute.

I have always loved the song Disco Queen off the band’s 2007 album Scarsick. I thought it would have made a perfect addition to the encore, a point on which both Daniel and Johan agreed. They spoke about the possibility of adding it to the show in Chennai, but soon discovered it would be impossible since they were touring without original keyboardist Frederick Hermansson, who unfortunately had a previous commitment and was unable to make it on this trip. His replacement, Daniel Karlsson, known in the band as D2, formerly guitar tech to the band on their 2007 tour, did not have the necessary sounds and samples on his keyboard to make the song work.

EDIT: Check out also amazing clips from unplugged show in Landmark shop (youtube)  8)

Brilliant show at Chennai, India ,except that the cops had to shut it down when they were playing their last song :(

The setlist was something like below...(order might be slightly different)
Of Two Beginnings
Ending Theme
Beyond the Pale
People Passing By
Kingdom of Loss
Linoleum
Diffidentia
Ashes
"a song from road salt"
Welcome to Entropia
Winning a War
Falling
The Perfect Element

Encore [The guys made an entrance in an auto-rikshaw back to the stage]

An Areosmith song [Daniel playing drums]
Dio - Dont talk to strangers [Daniel playing drums, had a brief a power cut in between]
Hallelujah [Sound cut by cops ]

Was successful in getting my 12:5 CD autographed by the entire band and a T-shirt autographed by Johan Hallgren.
Memorable experience, cant believe it yet.

It was probably "No Way" that they played from Road Salt.

Why did the cops break it up? They played too long? Too loud? Too obscenely? (:P)

OMG! You're not kidding  :P

Soundcheck?

Also. I suppose that it wasn't Aerosmith song. It was most likely Come Together by The Beatles  8)

My bad , they dint play beyond the pale, still too hung over to recall what just hit me.

I think open air gigs should end by 10:30 PM, general rule. So the cops shut it down.

Also I am not sure if Daniel speaks so little during the shows, but iI was happy that they dint speak much and instead played their songs, which the real fans came to see.

Johan (Pain Of Salvation) - Come Together @ Fuzz, 7-1-2011

There. Now we finally have a recording of something with Johan on sole lead vocals.

Daniel would be an idiot not to exploit this on a studio recording somehow.

@lauscho:
Yeah, he is better and more self-confident singer now than ever.

I've just watched an about 30 seconds clip (check Per Schelaner fb profile) from Saarang gig.  It's traditional warm-up just before Linoleum. About 8000 people screaming with their hands in the air. That was f****** amazing...  8)

This is not exactly PoS merch but you have to see these pics I think:

Quote
Daniel Gildenlöw, Johan Hallgren, Per Schelander & Robin Harry Ellingsen of Swedish Progressive Rock band PAIN OF SALVATION fame sporting DERBY Denim Wear. They Rocked ! Thank you Daniel, Johan, Per & Robin. We love you.
But, where is Leo? ;) Robin has a tattoo so he propably was a little more interesting option than Leo...  ::)

DERBY Jeans Community was the main sponsor of PoS gig in Chennai.

if playing with special guitars make them better, why not clothing..? With the exception of Johan, perhaps.
